On Thursday, April 7, Dr. Landwehr, along with Dr. George A. Bruder III, will present “Retreat or Surgery:
Decision Planning Dilemmas” at the American Association of Endodontists 2016 Annual Session. Two CE credits are available, with the event beginning at 1:15pm in room 2014. The session will focus on significant controversy over the preferred treatment choice – orthograde retreatment or apical surgery – for persistent apical disease. While both procedures are freq
uently applied, current literature does not provide clear guidance for clinical decision making. Dr. Landwehr and Dr. Bruder will discuss case-specific assessment of risks and benefits, as well as patient preferences, to help guide optimum treatment planning. The learning objectives of this interactive session are for attendees to describe the pros and cons of orthograde retreatment and apical microsurgery, including prognosis; describe the potential risks associated with orthograde retreatment and apical microsurgery in specific cases of post-treatment apical periodontitis; and to discuss the specific strategies to increase success and reduce risk at the various stages of orthograde retreatment and apical microsurgery. As always, we welcome you to contact us with questions, comments and feedback.
